Bottom line is that we need your help- in any way possible. You can actually help us a lot and even your closest friends would never know what you are doing to help us. Alternately if you are willing to do more, we would be extremely grateful if you would join us to do more.
So how can you help us?
So what can you do?
We do not want you engaging in self-harming activities to support us. But, we do really need your support. Without your doing something, consider you may be next and it may be your own career that may be over. Two thousand doctors per year are reaping the benefits of compulsory education to make their medical records better. If you wait long enough without doing anything, AHPRA may help you to improve your records as well. And then there are the new AHPRA proposals for medical education. With their track record to date, what eventuates and how it is enforced will be interesting.
The big issue in the long term, is whether AHPRA intends to use its new powers to thin out the excessive doctor workforce. This one I suppose depends on the government of the day. If all consultations are bulk billed - we need lots more doctors. If all consultations are fully privately billing- then we need to sack ¾ of them. AHPRA has been working hard to drive a lot of doctors into retirement, but with the CoVid crisis in NSW now they are calling for retired doctors to go back to work and risk death , probably for $30 per hour, after having first driving them into retirement with threats and coercive enforcement.
We aim for “Win-Win”. There are lots of ways that you can help us and make yourself better off at the same time as putting a lot of pressure on the Government to create change.
Let’s do win/ win. WE want to put pressure on the government to provide a supervisory process with fairness, reasonability and appropriateness. We make sure we are better off at the same time.
War can be made to hurt only whoever it is directed against.
Do what your personality dictates. Each of our strategies are likely to suit only specific people whose makeup and thoughts let them see a way to enact a strategy.
Compensation will only be made to people forced to end their careers if the government is cornered into this action.
Compensation will only be made to AHPRA’s rape victims if the government is cornered into this action.
The Judicial process will not help us. Legal defence is expensive and the system is prejudiced against the provision of justice to doctors. PSR reviews must be made to function with fairness, reasonability and appropriateness.
